built 633 days ago
According to the four canonical gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), Judas Iscariot agreed to betray Jesus by handing him over to the chief priests to be murdered. In the Gospel of John, Judas Iscariot agreed to lead the chief priests to Jesus and identify him with a kiss on the cheek. In return, the chief priests gave Judas 30pieces of silver.

Did God love Judas Iscariot, whom Scripture calls the son of perdition? At the last supper Jesus even washed Judas’ feet, showing love to his enemy. But showing love to your enemy does not guarantee they will repent. John 13:11-16 “For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, “You are not all clean. So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you?” You call me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am.” If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ... ought to wash one another’s feet.” For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.”

The story of Judas Iscariot has been, if nothing else, damaging to Jesus' image. Since their time Judas's presence among Jesus' inner circle has been disconcerting, as it suggests not only Jesus' lack of insight into Judas' character but ... his inability to reform Judas once he became a follower.

Anyone with a speck of Bible knowledge knows of the treachery and betrayal of Judas Iscariot. Throughout history, Judas is universally recognized as the Christ-rejecting traitor. His sellout and betrayal of the Lord Jesus ranks as history’s most despicable deed. Could anyone – or anything seriously defend the shameless treachery of Judas Iscariot?
