Trivia 1/ Joy Shelton (1922 - 2000) featured as Heather in The Odd Story of Simon Ode, she has a connection with two of the great classic radio detective series. PC. 49. As Joan Carr, she featured as Archibald Berkeley - Willoughby's girlfriend from 1947 to 1953. She and Brian Reece (PC 49) ... starred in a film A Case for PC 49 in 1951. Adding to this, she played Steve Trent (later Temple) in the first movie based on Francis Durbridge's character, Send for Paul Temple in 1946.

In 1944, Joy Shelton married the actor Sydney Tafler, and they were married until his death in 1979. The couple acted together in a total of six films. They had three children, Jennifer, Jeremy and Jonathan. Jennifer acted as a child and appeared with both her parents in the film Emergency Call (1952), directed by Shelton's brother-in-law, Lewis Gilbert. Jonathan Tafler has been a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and the BBC Radio Drama Company and features in the Barbra Streisand film Yentl.
Chunky Anne Shelton has the hots for Arthur, but he's more interested in Jean Kent. oh who cares! The plot is ghastly, the jokes fall flat and the songs stink. Most of the people involved in this turkey were part of the sparkling Miss London Ltd a year earlier. So why did this fail so totally?
Enjoyable wartime love story which has honest soldier John Mills going awol to sort out some domestic bother: his wife, Joy Shelton, is seeing too much of smoothy spiv Stewart Granger. Alastair Sim plays a sympathetic doctor, and the problem is finally resolved by a rousing punch-up.

Joy Shelton was born in London on 3 June 1922. She appeared in a number of British films in the 1940s & 1950s, most notably in two by Sidney Gilliat, Millions Like Us, which traced the wartime life of an ordinary London family, and Waterloo Road, in which she was fought over by John Mills and Stewart Granger. She was a popular radio personality and played the part of Joan Carr in The Adventures of PC 49 for the BBC. This series ran from 1947 until 1953, and had 112 episodes. She ... appeared in the film version, A Case for PC 49 (1950).
