Former top-of-the-poppers are headed for country's greener pastures, in part, because with the exception of Timberlake, as Jon Bon Jovi flat-out admits, "None of these artists could go on Top 40 anymore." Today's Top 40 stations, such as L.A.'s KIIS-FM (102.7), favor urban beats, samples and rhythms over songs with traditional choruses and verses.

Jon had since been bitten by the acting bug. He landed lead roles in movies Little City and The Leading Man, as well as in Moonlight and Valentino, Tranny Freakout!, Homegrown, and U-571, among others. While he was free between filming different movies, Jon wrote what would become his second solo album, 1997's Destination Anywhere. The album received very positive reviews and was a success across Europe. It was rumored that the record company was pursuing Jon to name the record "These Days, Part 2", since the album was somewhat of a moody progression from These Days. A short movie of the same name was recorded right around the record's release, based entirely on the songs from the record and starring Jon Bon Jovi, Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon and Whoopi Goldberg.

Bon Jovi - A slap at Jon's ego that was further reinforced tonight by the fact that he performed 2 songs as the host while the musical guest only got to perform 1 song. What's up with that? Anyway, it was nice to see yet another original sketch tonight even though it had a rather slim premise. Grade: C

In the meantime, the band just released the box set 100 Million Bon Jovi Fans Can't Be Wrong. "It's 38 songs no one's ever heard and 12 rarities that you have to be a diehard fan to know, so it's 50 songs," Bon Jovi boasted.
