John Morgan was a principal founder, with Shippen, of the first medical school in America and of the American Physical Society and the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. As Director General and Physician-in-Chief of the Continental Army, he attempted to improve the quality of medical care provided to members of the American army, and insisted on rigorous examinations for medicalofficers and on the subordination of regimental surgeons to the hospital chiefs. Morgan's library became the cornerstone for the Library of the College of Physicians. Among his writings were A Discourse upon the Institution ofMedical Schools in America (1765), which files the first brief for adequate medical education in this country and commemorates the organization at theCollege of Philadelphia of the Medical Department of the University of Pennsylvania; A Recommendation of Inoculation According to Baron Dimsdale's Method (1776); A Vindication of His Public Character in the Station of Director-General of the Military Hospitals (1777), in which he ably defendshis actions as Director-General of the Army and demands a court of inquiry to investigate the grounds for his dismissal.

John Morgan had a special connection to Gallatin. In August 1862 he surprised and defeated the garrison at Gallatin, burning parts of the railroad bridge. He did great damage to the Union forces, reporting back 80 Union troops killed and 200 captured, and losing only 24 men. The next day the Union forces counterattacked, and Morgan defeated them again.

At that time, the firm decided to advertise electronically, a difficult and controversial decision. In 2001, Morgan & Morgan celebrated thirteen years in business. The firm now employs 90 lawyers, 60 case managers, 30 paralegals and over 400 people on staff. The initial advertising budget for Morgan & Morgan was $100,000.00.

If you've not discovered John Morgan's previous albums then you are missing out on a rather unique mix of folk style finger picking mixed with a little blues and country colouring. Think John Renbourn and Bert Jansch but with a little more swing and lilt to the playing. On the technical side of things, this is a beautifully recorded album, the guitar is crystal clear and sounds as if it is in the room with you - and having just bought a new hi-fi this album was a good test of the speakers clarity. Highly Recommended!
