John Mayer grew up in suburban Connecticut listening to pop music. When he was in his teens, he became influenced by blues legend, Steve Ray Vaughan. He decided to learn how to play the guitar. After only two years of playing, he began touring around Connecticut playing at local venues. When he was nineteen he enrolled in the very prestigious Beklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Mayer... did not stay very long. He became frustrated.

John Mayer Pictures: John Mayer Is Dark And Brooding Mayer played the guitar for several years before enrolling in the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts at the age of nineteen. After two semesters, he chose to cut his studies short, and at the urging of his college friend and Atlanta native, Clay Cook, the two moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Quickly making a name for their two-man band, LoFi Masters, they began their career in earnest there, frequenting the local coffee house and club circuit in venues like Eddie's Attic.
