John Leguizamo was born in Bogota, Colombia. When he was 3 years old, his family moved to Queens, New York. While in high school, a teacher of John's noticed his penchant for humor and urged him to try acting. In 1983, he began studying acting at Sylvia Leigh's Showcase Theater. That year, John was given his first chance at acting with a role in Madonna's "Borderline" video. After graduating from high school he attended New York University, and joined the comedy group Off Center Theater.
John Leguizamo was born in Bogota, Columbia, and raised in Queens, New York. He studied drama at NYU, appearing in an award-winning student film that landed him a role on "Miami Vice." His subsequent films include "The Fan," "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar," "William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet," "Die Hard 2: Die Harder" and "Regarding Henry." Leguizamo's other theatre credits include "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "La Puta Vida" and "Parting Gestures." He ... hosted the 1995 TV series "House of Buggin'."
