[F]or the stage, Mr. Leguizamo has written and performed four one-man shows. The third of these, Freak, had a successful run on Broadway and was nominated for two Tony Awards. He was honored with Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Outstanding Solo Performance. The production was directed for HBO by Spike Lee, and was nominated for an Emmy Award, with Mr. Leguizamo winning the Emmy Award for Outstanding Performance in a Variety or Music Program.

Leguizamo married Yelba Osorio in 1994. The union produced one child, daughter, Allegra Sky. The two later divorced. Later, he met Justine Maurer in 1997. They married in 1999. The couple have one child together, Ryder Lee.

About the 5th annual Andre Agassi Children's benefit concert: performers included Gloria Estefan, Luther Vandross, Lee Ann Rimes, Elton John and Stevie Wonder. The musical director was David Foster who played piano for everyone. The musicians: JR Robinson on drums, Nathan East on bass, Dean Parks on guitar, Greg Phillinganes on keyboards and David Boruff on sax.
