John Gotti remained a novice at crime and was forced to take on a legitimate job operating a garment-pressing machine in a Brooklyn coat factory. He met Victoria DiGiorgio, the daughter of a sanitation worker, who had dropped out of high school in Victoria Gotti's senior year. They had their first child in 1961, soon to be followed by two more children after their wedding in 1962. In the meantime John Gotti had begun work as a truck driver's helper, a job which allowed him to learn how to value goods and how shippers and warehouses operated.

Take John Favara, who lived around the corner from the Gottis until 1980, when he accidently ran over 12-year-old Frank Gotti, killing him instantly. A day after the accident, Victoria Gotti beat him with a baseball bat.

In 1980, at age 12, Gotti's son Frank was run over by neighbor John Favara while the boy was riding his minibike. Though his death was ruled accidental by police, the neighbor was abducted weeks later and never seen again. Before Favara vanished, he'd received death threats. Witnesses reported seeing Favara being clubbed over the head, then shoved into a vehicle that sped away. He is presumed by police to have been murdered. Gotti denied any knowledge or involvement in Mr. Favara's abduction and disappearance.

On one of his Web sites, Agnello, the grandson of mobster John Gotti, says he is a student at St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay. He authored a book called "The Gotti Diet," in which he describes losing 80 pounds in a year before starting the reality television show.
