John Cusack: Movies
built 230 days ago
[I]n 1997, Cusack starred with Nicolas Cage, John Malkovich and Steve Buscemi in Buena Vista's blockbuster "Con Air." Directed by Simon West, Cusack portrayed U.S. Marshal, Agent Vince Larkin. Later that year he starred with Kevin Spacey in the Warner Bros. feature, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," directed by Clint Eastwood. Based on John Berendt's nonfiction best-seller of the same name, Cusack portrayed John Kelso, the movie version of the author/narrator. Additionally, Cusack lent his voice to FOX's full-length animated feature, "Anastasia."
Sixteen years later, Cusack is still coasting on all that goodwill, despite countless horrible movies and a reputation as a real-life jackass. His latest effort, after a two-year hiatus from films, is “Must Love Dogs,” an actually decent-looking romantic comedy in which he stars opposite the age-appropriate Diane Lane. But is it possible for Cusack ever to make a romantic comedy again, for the rest of his life, without having it compared (unfavorably) to “Say Anything…”?

In 1932, Cusack moved to Canberra and established Canberra's first major furniture store and a garage. He died in the old Canberra Hospital and was survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. Dymphna Cusack was his niece.[1]

Recently, Cusack starred opposite Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Billy Crystal in “America’s Sweethearts” for Sony Pictures. Produced and directed by Joe Roth, “America’s Sweethearts” focused on a Hollywood couple in the middle of a divorce while promoting a movie together.
Cusack, who's playing variations on Rob since he made ``The Sure Thing'' at 18, is perfectly cast. Recent movies are full of young actors whose stock in trade is withering sarcasm, but Cusack -- whose character is sadder, wiser and 35 -- brings intelligence and warmth to post- mod irony. A lot of his dialogue is delivered directly to the camera -- not an easy task -- but Cusack pulls it off.

Asked about his thoughts about a possible Oscar nomination (which he's never received), Cusack replied: "It's good for the movie and would be great for me. It's kind of like the prom, right? You wouldn't want to admit that you want to go, but you probably secretly want to be asked."
