John Carpenter has worked at HUD since 1998, and has been involved in HUD's web sites since 2000. His early web efforts include coding and posting local content for HUD's Philadelphia office web pages. In 2001 John became one of HUD's first regional web managers, expanding his responsibility to cover five states and the District of Columbia. John works with a team of six HUD staff in the field to develop and manage HUD's web content, and gratefully accepts the help of a team of contractors for technical support.

An unknown spacecraft finally rescued Carpenter. It turned out to be piloted by a benevolent shapeshifter, a thing from another world. Carpenter ruthlessly murdered the thing. Afterwards he studied the thing's abilitiy to shapeshift... becoming a shapeshifter himself. He flew back to Earth, but crashed down in Antarctica. He managed to crawl out of the ship, but was then frozen.
