Joel Schumacher: Lost Boys
built 198 days ago
Schumacher was a student of Parsons The New School of Design and began his work in the fashion industry. His introduction to the entertainment industry came through fashion, working as a costume designer on such films as Sleeper The Last of Shiela and Play it As It Lays. He ventured into screen writing and directing with the 1974 TV movie The Virginia Hill Story. He ... wrote the 1976 comedy Car Wash and the 1978 musical film The Wiz. His fitst big screen film was 1981's The Incredible Shrinking Woman starring Lily Tomlin. Other notable films include The Lost Boys (1987), Flatliners (1990), Falling Down (1993), The Client (1994) , and John Grisham's A Time to Kill (1996).
Joel Scumacher in true form At first, Schumacher was in an orphanage, but at the age of two was kicked out onto the streets after he strangled another boy with his beard- it was much longer back then. Following this, he went into exile and lived in the sewers. While living there, he plotted to take over the world- as a great many villains do. It was during this time that he met his life-long friend The Penguin, who introduced him to the Prince of Darkness, whose employ he immediately entered into. He was seven years old at the time. He began as a simple errand boy and sex slave, but soon rose up through the ranks to become the ultimate fighting champion in the Devil's fighting pit, where he defeated Vin Diesel in a climactic battle.
Director JOEL SCHUMACHER has criticised Warner Bros Pictures for deciding to make a direct-to-DVD sequel to his 1987 vampire flick THE LOST BOYS. The veteran film-maker has been trying to convince the studio to make an all-female spin-off for years, but he insists the straight sequel will be a disaster because all the characters from the original movie are either dead or too old to appear in a second movie. He says, "I told them to do THE LOST GIRLS and not do a The Lost Boys sequel. There is no The Lost Boys sequel. All the boys are dead. The Two COREYS (HAIM and FELDMAN) are too old.
Joel Schumacher After entering the industry as a costume designer, Schumacher wrote screenplays for "Car Wash" (1976), a modest ethnic comedy, "Sparkle" (1976), an old-fashioned Black musical and "The Wiz" (1978), the notorious musical flop. Schumacher made his feature directorial debut with "The Incredible Shrinking Woman" (1981) starring Lily Tomlin. Though not all reviewers were convinced by the film's feminist aspects, many were struck by its striking design sense and peculiar color scheme. Most of his subsequent output has been mainstream Hollywood fare: "brat pack" vehicles including "St. Elmo's Fire" (1985) and two well-done entries, "The Lost Boys" (1987) and "Flatliners" (1990); "Cousins" (1989), a saccharine romantic comedy derived from the popular French film, "Cousin, Cousine" (1975); and "Dying Young" (1991), a glossy weeper starring Julia Roberts and Campbell Scott.
