A heated Joel Madden bulldozed his way through a crowd of paparazzi as he and Nicole Richie tried to sneak out the back door of Mr. Chow Saturday night, sending photogs flying. As Madden approached his waiting ride, the Good Charlotte frontman finally lost his patience and rocked one unlucky photog with an openhanded shot to the chest. As the photog stumbled backwards, Madden and Richie quickly got into the car, and sped off into the night.

At least in public, Joel Madden leads a strange kind of double life. Those who know him from the “NICOLE AND JOEL” headlines - his girlfriend, tabloid queen Nicole Richie, is pregnant with his child - know little about his rock band. Those who know that Good Charlotte’s latest CD, “Good Morning Revival,” is a departure from the band’s shiny punk-and-pop sound couldn’t care less that Richie must serve four days in jail for a DUI.

Joel Ruben Madden was born on March 11, 1979 to a middle class family in Waldorf, Maryland. His identical twin brother, Benji Madden, plays guitar and Joel is the lead vocalist for the band Good Charlotte. He ... as an older brother and younger sister. When Madden was 16 years old, his father left the family, prompting the singer to change his last name from Combs, his father's name, to the maiden name of Madden.

While boyfriend Joel Madden, in between Good Charlotte tour dates, decided to get skunky with his newly dyed 'do at the Neil George salon yesterday, Nicole's letting her roots show, adding even more fuel to the all the pregnancy rumors! It's hard to tell if she's hiding a baby bump under that dress, but it does look like she's gone from a A- to an A in the bust department - but maybe that's just what a good bra can do for you!

The couple's potential neighbors apparently didn't want any paparazzi "hovering near their homes" on a 24-hour basis.
