Nemechek added that the team has lots of testing on the schedule and will continue working on down force and striving to make the car better. While he said that he wasn't sure about a testing session at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, he predicted that he would probably test there prior to the race at Richmond, Va.

Nemechek, who turns 44 in September, said he has no "plan B" in place in case his situation doesn't work out at Ginn. He wants to remain in Nextel Cup, is searching for sponsors for his dormant NEMCO Motorsports Busch Series team and would like to run more Craftsman Truck Series races.

Nemechek enjoyed the best streak of his 11-year Cup career in the final half of the 2004 season. In the final 10 races, Nemechek and the MB2 Motorsports U.S. Army team had a stalwart run with one win (Kansas), three top-fives, six top-10s and two poles.

In mid-season of 2002, Nemechek joined Hendrick Motorsports to drive the No. 25 Monte Carlo. And while the season had more downs than ups, the team change seemed to kick in at the end of the season with two runner-up finishes in the last four races.

Jayski.com is reporting Furniture Row Racing has signed Nemechek to a three-year contract, starting with the 2008 season. Furniture Row Racing would like to start a second operation and they are relying on the stability of Nemechek to help build the team where they can add a second team.

Frye said a lack of sponsorship forced the team to release Nemechek and evaluate the future of the No. 13 car. The 43-year-old Nemechek had one top-10 finish this season — ninth in the season-opening Daytona 500 — and was 33rd in the standings.
