Joe Nemechek: Teams
built 628 days ago
When he wasn't racing, Nemechek served as the front-tire changer on Joe's pit crew, and was on Joe's 1992 Busch Series Championship winning team. Still, John wanted to race in NASCAR like Joe was, but faced obstacles due to his limited experience. Fortunately, NASCAR created a new top series, the Craftsman Truck Series, and John began running the series immediately. In the first year of competition, John ran 16 races and had two top-ten finishes. He followed that up with two more top-tens in 1996 and a thirteenth place finish in points, running a single truck he built himself titled The War Wagon under his own team, Chek Racing, Inc.
"Joe will be a great addition to our team," said MB2 Motorsports GM Jay Frye when Nemechek's move to the team was announced. "He is a proven veteran who always gives 100 percent both on and off the track."

The #78 in 2008 After Petree's team began to run into financial problems, Nemechek left for the 26 Ford Taurus fielded by Haas-Carter Motorsports. But after sponsor Kmart filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Nemechek left the team.
Nemechek won the 1992 NASCAR Nationwide Series championship, over Bobby Labonte by 3-points. Still a part-time racer in the Series for his own team, NEMCO Motorsports, Nemechek has made over 200 starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
