In Addition to his new CD and continuing work with Firefall, Jock is an artist of growing renown. Four of his Beatles paintings are featured in a new coffee table book released worldwide, entitled Beatles Art - Fantastic New Artworks of The Fab Four, in which Jock has ... written the foreword. Borders Books is sponsoring a number of Colorado and national book signing 'events' in which they will also display, promote and sell his solo CD Blindside.

Jock is the newest steam engine on the Arlesdale Railway, and ... the strongest. He was almost entirely built at the Arlesdale Railway's works. He was mentioned in "The Island of Sodor: Its People, History and Railways", but first really appeared in the eponymous book "Jock the New Engine" - the Reverend W. Awdry had intended to include him in "Small Railway Engines", but it was left to Christopher Awdry to write him in to the stories some years later.

As if that were not enough, Jock has a string of performance and recording credits with headline acts such as Eliza Carthy, Chipolata 5, Waterson and Cathy and Reality Check. More recently Jock has joined the highly acclaimed New Rope String Band (which has arisen from the untimely demise of the Old Rope String band) and continues to delight festival and concert audiences with their very own whacky brand of entertainment and musicianship. So it sounds like he is bound to fit in!

Through photographic portraiture, Jock Sturges portrays the radiance of the children of close friends and family. The photographs, taken with a large-format camera and often in the final hours of late summer days, depict the luminescence of the human form, unclothed and unashamed. Born in New York City in 1947, Sturges earned his B.F.A. in Perceptual Psychology and Photography from Marlboro College and went on to receive his M.F.A. from the San Francisco Art Institute. His work is in the collections of major institutions including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; The Museum of Modern Art, New York; The Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris; The Frankfurt Museum of Modern Art; and The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

Starting out painting Magic cards and RPG illustrations, Jock began working full time in comics for 2000AD and THE JUDGE DREDD MEGAZINE in late 1999. Winning a British National Comic Award for best newcomer in 2001, he then moved to the US market. There he's worked on the Eisner award nominated title THE LOSERS with Andy Diggle, HELLBLAZER and the upcoming FAKER with writer Mike Carey, and covers for BATMAN, DETECTIVE COMICS, NIGHTWING and RUSH CITY for the DCU. He ... contributed designs to the acclaimed BATMAN BEGINS movie. Other clients outside of comics include MTV, WARNER BROTHERS, UNIVERSAL PICTURES, SAATCHI AND SAATCHI, BRITISH AIRWAYS, PLAYSTATION, NINTENDO, BBC, NBA, GT INTERACTIVE and others.
