The Jin Mao building is a superb design, combining elements of traditional Chinese architecture and a gothic influence to produce this amazingly modern building. Architects designed the building around the theme of the Chinese pagoda and the number eight. The lowest segment of the building is sixteen stories high and each succeeding segment is 1/8th smaller than its predecessor.

Since returning from their journey, Jin and Sun's relationship seems to be back on track. In "Tricia Tanaka Is Dead", Sun begins speaking to him in English, which almost upsets him. However, when Hurley asks for volunteers to help with the newly discovered van he found in the jungle, Jin is the only one remaining after everyone else declines and walks away. Hurley takes Jin to the van and the two discover some DHARMA beer and ... blueprints on a road project. Sawyer shortly arrives, to which Jin and Hurley are overjoyed. The three of them overturn the van.

[I]n the early 13th century, the Mongolian people, who submitted to the Jin Dynasty originally, gradually grew in strength as the Jin Dynasty declined. They didn't pay tribute to the Jin Dynasty any more. Facing that situation, the Jin Dynasty wrongly chose to break off communication with the Western Xia Dynasty and attack the Southern Song Dynasty and the Mongolian People. As a result, the Jin Dynasty was trapped in an isolated condition, with enemies in three directions. The Mongolian army launched wars against the Western Xia Dynasty, and the Jin Dynasty turned a deaf ear to the Western Xia's requests for help. In the end, the Western Xia went over to the Mongolian people to attack the Jin Dynasty together.

Shortly after their marriage, Jin's mother found Sun and blackmailed her. When Sun asked her father for the money, Mr. Paik told her that Jin would be working for him to pay off the debt. Later at their apartment Sun caught Jin in a discrepancy about the date of his father's death, and they began to argue. The next day, Jin discovered the money Sun was going to give to his mother, but Sun told him it was from her father for furniture and a honeymoon. Jin asked Sun to give it back, and told her he could provide for her. Sun agreed, telling Jin that she loved him.

The Jin Mao building is designed by US architectural firm Skidmore Owings & Merrill, and was built by the Shanghai Jian Gong Group, the first Chinese national construction group to tackle such a large and significant project. The Jin Mao Building is a luxurious complex which combines office space with commercial space, a shopping mall, and entertainment functions. The three basement levels house electric facilities, service facilities, parking spaces and a food court.

Jin is present at the beach when Desmond returns to inform them of Charlie's death, and his final warning. Jin and the others at the beach set out to meet up with Jack and the others in the jungle. He happily reunites with Sun at the cockpit. Jin sides with Jack during the rift between the survivors.
