Picking the best Jimi Hendrix song is like picking the best 100-dollar bill. Some are more crisp and clean, others have a nice dirty feel, but they all have the same great worth.

On September 18, 1970, Jimi Hendrix was found dead in a basement of the Samarkand Hotel in London. He died after drinking too much, and then taking too many sleeping pills. He vomited and choked on his vomit because he could not gain consciousness. There are many different theories that were thought up. His girlfriend, who was with him at the time that he died, said that he was alive when she put him in the back of the ambulance, but hospital records say that Hendrix had been dead for some time before the ambulance had reached him. Some people say that Hendrix was alive, but that the paramedics did not properly hold his head while he was unconscious so he choked on his own vomit.[7] A sad poem that was found in Hendrix’ apartment written by him made some think that he committed suicide.

In 2004, Janie Hendrix was sued by her half-brother, Leon Hendrix, Jimi's younger brother, who was written out of his father's will in 1997. He was seeking to have his inheritance restored and Janie removed from her position of control over the Hendrix estate. Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Ramsdell sided with Janie explaining 'Janie was the family member Al trusted the most.' He added that Leon's battles with drug addiction, his failure to complete a treatment programme, his unwillingness to work and his continual demands for money were the main reasons that Al Hendrix cut his younger son from his will.

Hendrix was always uneasy being one of the first black stars to attract a white audience; he wanted to be welcomed by blacks, too. Following Woodstock, his friends tried to arrange a show for him at the Apollo in Harlem, where his friends teased him about his drug of choice -- LSD -- being a "white" drug. The legendary theater refused, afraid the concert would draw too many whites.
