Jim is currently the 2007 National Meeting Program Chair for the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and is the founding co-director of the ‘Information Technology in Chemical Engineering’ divisional program area. Jim began his academic career following several years of industrial experience at Amoco Chemicals Corporation. He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University.

By junior high school, his asthma was in check, and Jim Davis even went on to letter in high school football. Later, he attended Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., where he majored in art, business and practical jokes.

In his role as CIO, Jim has broad responsibility for university-wide IT visioning and strategic technology planning. He coordinates the IT technology planning, policy setting, prioritization and decision-making processes and is responsible for the strategic deployment of the academic and administrative IT operations, services and resources in support of the university mission and its institutional and departmental technology requirements.
