Like The Flintstones, The Jetsons was based on the premise of a typical family placed in an atypical situation. Some of the advanced technology in The Jetsons looks old-hat by today’s standards. Jane’s facsimile dress selector looks like a 1970s movie projector that merely broadcasts an image. Nothing special there. And Elroy’s enviro-simulator is impressive but no more so than today’s video games. The mail is fast, but it is physical!

Wendy's restaurant chain had a Jetsons kids' meal tie-in. When clips from the film were shown on TV, scenes with George had re-dubbed lines from an unnamed voice actor. The commercials showed Wendy's founder Dave Thomas either in a theater watching the film, or at his restaurant promoting the film.
