At the Grammy Awards of 2005, "Jesus Walks" was one of only two rap songs nominated for Song of the Year, following "Lose Yourself" by Eminem from the year before. West, Rhymefest and Miri Ben-Ari won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Song for co-writing the song's lyrics. "Jesus Walks" was nominated for several gospel awards before the awards committees learned that the song contained some explicit language, and removed it from these awards.

The Recording Academy will not remove Kanye West's name from eligibility because Rhymefest (... known as C. Smith) is credited for co-writing "Jesus Walks." Which means, that if the song does win a Grammy, Rhymefest will get a Grammy award. That's no bullshit. Now should Kanye thank Rhymefest for helping him co-write his biggest hit? Sure, that would be a nice gesture. But Kanye probably will not do that.

In total, three separate videos were made for "Jesus Walks", each funded by West himself. One depicting a black prison camp, a male and female drug runner and others, one of Kanye as a preacher in a Baptist church and showing a prostitute, an alcoholic and a drug dealer going to pray in the church (this version is the one shown on MTV, VH1, and Black Entertainment Television), and one depicting the life of Jesus in the current day. The Video reached #8 on MuchMusic's 50 Most Controversial Videos for the religious topic, the Ku Klux Klan reference, and the car chase scene. In the end of the video, West thanks Chaka Khan of the poster of her, which he ... done in "Through the Wire".

In Matthew’s account of Jesus walking on the water, “just as Jesus treads on water, so too shall his people, who will overcome their demons” (Bruce 1). The believer, in this sense, is given the power and authority to tread over the enemy. This is Matthew’s main intention in writing this pericope, which can ... be compared with Deuteronomy, 33:29: Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord, the shield of your help, and the sword of your triumph! Your enemies shall come fawning to you, and you shall tread on their backs. The followers of Jesus were astounded that they have this authority (Bruce 2).

After spending the day with Jesus, the people walked along the northern shore of the sea to their homes. The disciples climbed into their boat and started to row toward Capernaum. Jesus went up the mountain to pray alone. After nightfall a strong wind blew across the sea and beat against the little boat. The disciples rowed with all their
