The Jesus & Mary Chain's line-up, except for the Reid brothers, was never very stable and changing the musicians became almost a routine. The only other regular musician in the band other than Jim and William that was bassist Ben Lurie, who joined the group in 1992.

Once retired Scottish rock band The Jesus & Mary Chain took the stage for the first time in almost 10 years at April's Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. That performance, and a few subsequent gigs, have prepared them to release a new album next spring or summer.

Apparently, the Jesus & Mary Chain show was just the beginning of her forthcoming musical collaborations. The raspy star is recording an album of Tom Waits songs, which she says will be finished "before the summer ends." Asked who might be appearing as guests on the record, Johansson kept her pouty lips sealed. "We'll have to wait and see," she said.
