Jesus: Synoptic Gospels
built 183 days ago
Jesus was an observant Jew who, according to the Gospels, was often followed by Pharisees and scribes who severely criticized him. He was charged with being possessed by Satan. He was accused of being a party animal who consorted with the dregs of society -- prostitutes, tax collectors, etc. Yet there is no record of them accusing him of being gay. In 1st century Judea, same-sex behavior among men was a most serious offense, worthy of the death penalty. If Jesus were gay, and if the Jewish establishment knew of his orientation, they would certainly have used it against him.

In accordance with the four canonical gospel accounts Christians believe that Jesus was raised from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion. This article of faith is referred to in Christian terminology as the Resurrection of Jesus Christ; and each year at Easter (on a Sunday) it is commemorated and celebrated by most Christians groups apart from a few groups such as the Jehovah's Witnesses.

During the Last Supper before Jesus' execution, the author(s) of the Gospel of John describes how the "beloved" disciple laid himself on Jesus' inner tunic -- his undergarment. See John 13:25 and 21:20. eat together, side by side. What's being portrayed here is a pederastic relationship between an older man and a younger man. A Greek reader would understand." 5 Jesus appears to have loved all of his male and female followers in a close, trusting, non-erotic manner.

Scholars debate the details of Jesus' birth, and few claim to know the exact year or date of his birth or death. The Gospels of Luke and Matthew place Jesus' birth under the reign of Herod the Great. Luke further describes his birth taking place during a census, which could be the first census of the Roman provinces of Syria and Iudaea. Scholars suggest that he was born between 7 and 2 BC/BCE. Jesus' ministry followed that of John the Baptist.[9] The Gospels name Pontius Pilate as the Roman prefect that had Jesus crucified, and Herod reigned between 26 and 36 AD/CE.

Pearson's view is that all make it to heaven, no matter what their religion, or what view they hold regarding the gospel, God, and Jesus. He illustrates this in a story he told of a Hindu friend who was hesitant to become a Christian. The Hindu was reluctant to convert because that meant he must admit his deceased Hindu father was in hell:

Recently ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and FOX have featured programs about Jesus. Inevitably, two things come up: 1) the only information we have about Jesus is in the Bible, specifically the 4 Gospels, and we can't trust them; 2) Jesus was (if he existed at all) certainly a great man, but no more than that. Neither is correct.
