Most scholars in the fields of history and biblical studies agree that Jesus was a Galilean Jew, was regarded as a teacher and healer, was baptized by John the Baptist, and was crucified in Jerusalem on orders of the Roman Governor Pontius Pilate on the charge of sedition against the Roman Empire.[5][6] Few critical scholars believe that all ancient texts on Jesus' life are either completely accurate[7] or completely inaccurate.[8]
Christians often defend their worldly behavior and their association with those involved in that which is forbidden by Scripture by claiming that Jesus Christ would associate with the lifestyles and behaviors of the unsaved if He were walking the earth today. Often, Fundamentalists are accused of being "holier-than-thou" because they refuse to attend Christian rock concerts, nightclubs or bars.

Jesus' life culminated in the atonement. Scripture is clear that Jesus died, was buried, and rose on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). In this, he revealed the glory he had with the Father before the world existed (John 17:5) and was exalted and was given the name above all names (Philippians 2:9).

After Jesus was crucified, he was restored to life. The resurrection or the rising again from dead was, according to Jesus, and ineffable condition in which all bodily limitation was transcended. It was a condition of being perpetually in the presence of God. Jesus was a fully developed Yogi and sage. He had no identification with the physical body. He identified himself with the Supreme Soul.
