Several sources on the net claims that Jessica Simpson sent Britney Spears some hair extensions after Britney shaved her hair. Apparently Britney was not as grateful as Jessica expected. She received the hair extensions back with a "No thank you" note from Britney - only to find out later that Britney went out on her own to buy same of Jessica's hair extensions. All of this is of course denied by both camps.

It seems that the Mickey Mouse Club finally failed in its uncanny ability to find and hire future pop stars when it passed over Jessica Simpson's audition tape. No matter. Without having to don the ears or participate in a roll-call of names including Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and roughly a third of all popular boy bands, Simpson managed to tug the ear of preteens with "I Will Love You Forever," a sentimental ballad that plays in homes across America as names and hearts are etched into Trapper Keepers. As long as there are crushes, broken adolescent hearts, and slumber parties, Simpson will have an agog audience tuned in to hear her outstretched vocals.

Early life and beginning Simpson was born in Abilene, Texas and raised in Richardson, a suburb of Dallas, Texas. She is the daughter of Joe Truett Simpson (a former Baptist youth minister) and Tina Ann Drew (a former Sunday School teacher). She has a younger sister, Ashlee, who launched her own music career in mid-2004. Simpson started singing at the age of twelve as a part of her Baptist church choir. At the same age, she made an unsuccessful application for The New Mickey Mouse Club, which starred fellow pop singers Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, among other future stars.

Simpson got her start singing in her church choir. In 1992, at the age of 12, she made an unsuccessful audition for “The All New Mickey Mouse Club.” While she did make it to the finals, she choked and missed the opportunity to star with future pop stars Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.
