Jesse James: Outlaws
built 199 days ago
Jesse James is back with another dose of mayhem in the biggest and baddest Motorcycle Mania installment yet. Follow this outlaw bike builder over the course of one crazy year as he makes a chopper out of pure copper and thunders across the deserts of northern Mexico with his buddy Kid Rock.
To the hard-pressed plains farmers of the 1870's, Jesse James indeed may have appeared as the agent of destiny's vengeance. The outlaw's victims were usually those twin traducers of the farmers' labor and land -- the railroads and the banks.

In the American Western series The Young Riders (1989-1992), Jesse James is portrayed by the late actor Christopher Pettiet. He appears in 17 episodes of the last season (91-92) as one of the Pony Express riders. In the show, this occurs before he becomes an outlaw.
What makes Jesse a totally fascinating character is the human trait he brought to outlawry, akin only to Robin Hood. "Like his famous predecessor in folklore (although in fact James was a real person), Jesse James robbed from the rich and was kind to the poor," explains Encyclopaedia Britannica's Annals of America series. "(He) was always willing to help some cowpoke who was 'down on his luck'."
This classic Western unfolds the legendary saga of the notorious James boys, notably Jesse Woodson James (1847-1882). Director King directed this blockbuster that captures the image and era of the infamous outlaw, if not the reality of his character. Until this film the 24-year-old Power had been an attractive matinee idol, but here he proved that he could really act. read more

Stars Henry Fonda and Tyrone Power make great outlaws in this key film in the Jesse James canon. It is the imaginary story of two real brothers who, according to southern legend, were driven to bad things by bad times. Actor Power is much older than a 16-year old Jesse, but with facts thrown to wind, all things are possible in this American myth.
