Jeopardy: Final Jeopardy
built 786 days ago
On March 16, 2007, the first three-way tie for 1st place in the history of the show aired, with each of the contestants (Scott Weiss, Jamey Kirby & Anders Martinson) ending with $16,000 after the Final Jeopardy! clue.[9] However, this was not an accidental tie. The leader going into Final Jeopardy! (computer science professor Weiss) wanted to make history after hearing that it had never happened before, and he made the appropriate wager. All three contestants returned on the next episode, with Kirby becoming sole champion, winning an additional $22,677. [10]
Jeopardy contestants The game's second round is called "Double Jeopardy" because the dollar amounts of the questions are double that of the first round. At the end, the contestants play "Final Jeopardy". They are shown a category, but not the question. They can wager any amount, up to the entire total of their day's winnings, on that one make or break question. After the contestants have decided how much they want to wager, they are shown the final question, and they write down their answers while the familiar "Jeopardy Game Show!"theme song plays in the background.
Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek, circa 1986 After a second pilot was made with Alex Trebek in 1984, Jeopardy! went back on the air. An electronic version of the "Think!" melody became the main theme, while the original recording was recycled for the Final Jeopardy! Round. The main theme was remixed in 1991 to include a bongo track.
Running with Scissors Keep your eyes peeled because word on the street is that Weird Al is in a commercial for Jeopardy. The commercial shows a series of musicians playing the infamous theme song, and of course saving the best for last with Al and his accordion for the final 5 seconds.
