Jennifer Capriati, labeled the great hope of American women's tennis, is one of the best tennis players in the world. She never fails to enrapture her fans with a fresh approach to the game she masters and holds closest to her heart. She was introduced to tennis at the early age of three. However, it wasn't until March 5, 1990, at age 14, that she became a professional tennis player. The WTA Rankings of October 2001 announced Jennifer as the #1 ranked player in the world. She has currently won twelve professional titles and $4,300,000 in career prize money.
Jennifer Capriati is one of the most accomplished tennis players in American history. She has won three Grand Slam singles titles, as well as the women's singles Gold Medal at the 1992 Olympic Games. During her career, Capriati has won 14 professional singles titles and 1 doubles title.

In many ways, Jennifer Capriati had the perfect start to her career. She was talented at sports, was given the best coaching money could buy from four years old and in 1991 she caused a stir when she reached the Wimbledon semi-finals, aged just 15 years old. With a wealthy family and her father as her coach, she couldn't fail.

The 25-year-old Jennifer Capriati has played through adversity her entire life. Capriati successfully defended her Australian Open singles title, claimed her third Grand Slam trophy, and solidified her No. 1 ranking. What's next? Venus Williams.

At age 14 Jennifer Capriati reached the semifinals of the 1990 French Open. The next year she became the youngest-ever women's semifinalist at Wimbledon, and in 1992 won the Olympic gold medal by beating Steffi Graf in Barcelona, Spain. Then the pressures of being a teen sensation seemed to unnerve her, and her career fell apart. She was stopped for shoplifting in a Florida mall in 1993, and the next year arrested for possession of marijuana after a party in a Florida motel. Her police mug shot was widely published and became an enduring image of a teen idol turned tortfeasor. Capriati began a slow career comeback in the late 1990s, and in 2001 she unexpectedly won her first Grand Slam singles title at the Australian Open.

Jennifer Capriati took the tennis world by storm in 1990 when she became the youngest player to ever reach a final of a professional tennis tournament just shy of her fourteenth birthday. She was the youngest ever player to reach the semifinals of the major tournaments and the youngest ever player to be ranked in the top ten. Capriati's initial success... was short-lived. The rebellious teenager quit tennis at age 17. After battling drugs, legal problems, and her parents' divorce, a more mature Capriati returned to the tennis scene in 1996 at age 20. By 2001 Capriati dominated women's tennis, winning two Grand Slam titles and reaching the number one ranking. Capriati added a third Grand Slam title to her career in 2002 and she continues to be a leading player in women's tennis.
