Jena Malone
built 633 days ago
Jena Malone has been acting in various film, television and theatrical productions since she was ten years old ( including Donnie Darko, Saved! and Pride and Prejudice.) She has strived to only work on projects that speak to her personally and truthfully, even though they're not always the easiest stories to tell. Now at the age of 22 she is taking her storytelling to the next level, singing and making music as she describes is "Something I can't control, as if I have discovered all these women who live in my mouth and I can't help but want to understand who they are and help them tell their story." Although she never grew up with any formal music training, she has been singing, writing and producing her own music for a little over a year now. She cites some of her influences as Tom Waits, PJ Harvey, Neil Young, Daniel Johnston and Townes Van Zant. Later this year, Malone will release two tracks as part of a new Social Registry 7" series.

Jena Malone was born to 22-year-old single mother, Debbie Malone, in Sparks, Nevada. The two moved to Lake Tahoe shortly afterward. Money was scarce. Debbie was often on welfare and they frequently had to move to escape bad roommates or bad debts. They lived in trailer parks, with friends, with relatives, and sometimes, in their car. Despite all that, Jena loved Lake Tahoe and enjoyed playing in the forest and climbing trees.
