Jeffrey Dahmer is the son of a Born Again Fundamentalist (Church of Christ) father. Jeffrey's Born Again Fundamentalist home life led him to feel he could not acknowledge his homosexuality to his Fundamentalist father, and instead he developed an intense hatred of himself and of other gay men.

In June of 1978 Dahmer found his first victim in eighteen year old Steven Hicks he was picked up while hitchhiking to his girlfriends house. They got to talking and Dahmer offered to buy Steven Hicks a couple of beers at a local bar. Steven thought this offer sounded find as long as Jeffrey would drive him to his girlfriends house later in the day. Steven Hicks was never seen alive again.

In 1982, Dahmer moved in with his grandmother in West Allis, where he lived for six years. In August of that year, he was arrested for exposing himself at a state fair. In September 1986, he was charged again with public exposure after two boys accused him of masturbating in public. This time he was sentenced to a year in prison, of which he served 10 months. On September 25, 1988, he was arrested for sexually fondling a 13-year-old boy in Milwaukee, for which he served 10 months of a one year sentence in a work release camp. He was required to register as a sex offender.

Relatives of the victims of the serial killer Jeffrey L. Dahmer have lost a court suit against a comic book about him. Judge James P. Doherty of Milwaukee County Circuit Court ruled on Friday that the eight relatives could not base a claim on names and likenesses of people who are dead.

A few months after his arrest in October of 1981 for drunken and disorderly conduct, his father thought it best that Jeffrey go live with his grandmother in West Allis, Wisconsin. Things were calm for a few months until he dropped his trousers in the company of a group of people. He had apparently had a bit to drink. He kept things under control for another four years until he was again arrested in September of 1986 for masturbating in front of two boys. He was put on probation for a year.

Dahmer served his time at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin, where he ultimately declared himself a born-again Christian. This conversion occurred after viewing Evangelical material sent to him by his father.[5] A local preacher, Roy Ratcliff, met with Dahmer and agreed to baptize him.
