Jeff Gordon's first full NASCAR Winston Cup season was in 1993. He race for Hendrick Motorsports. He started off strong by winning the Twin 125 in qualifying for the Daytona 500. After completing your first championship season, you begin a second, which is exactly the same except that now Jeff Gordon will be one of your rival racers. Gordon, identifiable by his all-red car, adds a little extra challenge to each race and is generally more aggressive than the other AI racers. For example, on the first track (Cloverleaf), most of the computer cars will not take the superfast accelerated-turn shortcut, but Gordon will. If you win the second season, you get to do it all over again, but this time it's you and Gordon head-to-head with no other racers on the track.

Jeff Gordon has a racing link to Richard Petty. Gordon's first Cup race, in Nov. 1992 at Atlanta, was Petty's last. In '98 Gordon ... equaled NASCAR's all-time winningest driver for the most victories in a season in the Modern Era (1972-present) with 13.Gordon also has four Cup championships. Only Petty and Dale Earnhardt, with seven each, have more.

In 2005, Jeff Gordon suffered his worst season since his rookie year in 1993. Jeff Gordon missed out for the Chase for the Nextel Cup, and finishes 11th in points, and finishing outside the top 10 in points since he finished 14th in his rookie year of 1993. Jeff did win 4 races this year. Those races were Daytona, Martinsville, Talladega, and the other Martinsville race. No one saw Gordon's bad season coming, after winning his 3rd Daytona 500, and winning 3 of the first 9 races of the season. After the 3rd win at Talladega, he went 16 races without a top 5 finish, a very uncharacteristic Jeff Gordon.
