By the age of 19 Jeeves' master Harlem was a billionaire due to the massive success of his website Wikipedia. Harlem had, in fact, changed his name to Wikipedia and had adopted the form of the Wikipedia's logo, the big, ball, jigsaw, thingy; the idea for which he plagiarized from Uncyclopedia. At 25, Wikipedia fatefully agreed to go for a drink with Jeeves, where Jeeves drugged, caged, and cleaned out Wikipedia, leaving him with nothing but his backup files. Wikipedia managed to escape from his cage using some lock picking advice submitted by johnyboy3118. Jeeves set up his own site, with all this information, but due to his terrible ability to apply knowledge he was run into the ground by the much bigger, stronger Google. Jeeves now spends his days standing on the front page of www.ask.com letting visitors know whether it is Morning, Afternoon or Evening.

Om Malik spills the beans that Ask Jeeves is looking into acquiring Grouper the peer to peer file sharing social network. Om sees the acquisition as a channel for Ask Jeeves to bundle its download offerings as well as show its new sponsored search advertisements. Ask Jeeves acquired Bloglines last year in an attempt to corner the blog reading aggregation and search market. Like Bloglines, Grouper is an established cutting edge network of savvy users.

The site has been doing a lot to bring the Jeeves character to life, but recently it has had some significant coups. First, Jeeves the butler landed a spot as one of the giant balloons in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, which is broadcast nationally. Adding to the buzz about this butler is the news that Hollywood superagent Michael Ovitz has signed on to act as Jeeves' strategic marketing consultant, finding new ways to build the brand and extend its presence in the non-technology arena.

To assure users that they'll get the best answers to their questions, Ask Jeeves ... has partners who provide answers, to supplement those answers Jeeves has found. Ask Jeeves searches these answers as well, to eliminate duplication. This guarantees that the user finds the best answer by including the top ten answers from other leading "search engines."

A: The only time Ask Jeeves Desktop Search may affect your computer's performance is during its initial indexing of your hard drive. (And you can choose to avoid this by selecting "Automatic" or "Slow" in the "Indexing -> Speed" menu. Slow mode will not affect your computer but will take longer to index. Automatic mode will only index in Fast mode if you are idle and will switch to Slow when you become active.
