One day before Jean Reno returned from Verdandi's keeping, twenty of the Frenchmen who had taught him how to act were killed by machine gun fire upon leaving a resaurant. The shooter was never identified. When Reno returned, bitter and cynical, he expressed great resentment towards his country and how it almost destroyed him. Not even the French people's compliments about his awesome stubble could lighten Reno's mood. To clear his head, he left Paris and travelled to an unknown destination to learn the arts of true combat.

Jean Reno was born in Casablanca, Morocco to Spanish (Andalusian) parents who moved to North Africa to escape the fascism of Francisco Franco. His parents returned to France when Reno was 12 and during his teens, his mother died.

Reno has been married twice. With his first wife, Genevive, he has a daughter, Sandra (born in 1978), and a son, Mickael (born in 1980). With his second wife, former model Nathalie Dyszkiewicz, he has a son, Tom (born in 1996), and a daughter, Serena (born in 1998). The actor divides his time between homes in Paris and Los Angeles.

Plot Summary: Yumi was born after the divorce of his/her parents, and does not know of the existence of his father played by Jean Reno. At the time of the death of his ex-wife, Jean Reno returns to Japan. He is caught up in a crime and has to work together with Yumi without suspecting one second that she is really his daughter.
