Jay Mohr: Comic Standing
built 212 days ago
Jay Mohr is a quadruple threat. Film, television, radio and stand-up are all among the treasures in the bag of tricks he's been working on throughout the 15-year career he began as a teenager. He has worked with superstars, matching wits and chops with Tom Cruise in "Jerry Maguire", Al Pacino in "Simone", Eddie Murphy in "Pluto Nash" and Bill Murray in "Speaking of Sex". Jay starred as Peter Dragon in the critically acclaimed Fox series "Action", and last year co-created, executive produced and hosted NBC's summer smash reality show Last Comic Standing.
JAY Mohr's raunchy comedy almost raised an extra $25,000 for charity on Saturday, when an outraged grandmother offered to pay that much if Mohr would just shut his dirty mouth. At a Minneapolis fund-raiser for kids with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, the "Last Comic Standing" star joked about how well-endowed he was and how he wanted to "bag" the female auctioneer. The fed-up granny finally had enough and shouted to Mohr that she'd donate $25,000 if he'd shut up. He didn't stop, and even thanked "grandma" before he left the stage. Mohr's rep didn't return calls.

Jay Mohr Mohr's roots have remained in stand-up comedy and fans of that entertainment form have seen him on such programs as Showtime's "Full Frontal Comedy" and "Evening at the Improv" on the Arts & Entertainment Network (A&E). He would later serve the host of NBC's stand-up talent search reality series "Last Comic Standing" (2003), alongside one of his heroes, talent judge Buddy Hackett, with whom he ... starred on "Action." Meanwhile, Mohr showed up in the light-hearted family comedy, "Are We There Yet?" (2005), playing friend and employee to the owner of a sports memorabilia store (Ice Cube). Though panned by many critics, the movie opened number one at the box office. For his next movie, "King's Ransom" (2005), he played a dimwitted rube who hijacks a millionaire's plan to kidnap himself by kidnapping him first.
Mohr, 36, first met Cox when he guest-starred on her show. Mohr was a cast member on "Saturday Night Live" from 1993 to 1995, as well as host of NBC's "Last Comic Standing."
Mohr has a recurring role on "Ghost Whisperer." If the pilot doesn't go to series, he will become a regular on the CBS drama, if it is picked up for a third season. Mohr's TV credits ... include the Fox comedy series "Action" and NBC's reality show "Last Comic Standing."
