As the media ponders the improv talents of late-night talk show hosts returning on Jan. 3 without writers, the Jay Leno show booked their first guest since the Writers Guild of America started their strike on Nov. 5. Republican candidate Mike Huckabee has signed on to sit opposite Mr. Leno, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

In automobile collecting circles, Jay Leno is known as an avid student, collector and restorer of cars and motorcycles. He has a large antique car and motorcycle collection of under 3,000 various international marques. The collection spans from the early 1900's to the late 1960's. He constantly works on his collection in his spare time. The collection includes an original 1912 Stanley Steamer and a very rare 1964 Studebaker Avanti. He is ... a promoter of the mechanical crafts through a column in Popular Mechanics and his educational activities.

Jay Leno delivered his second monologue last night, one that he wrote himself. He could lose his guild membership or face a fine from the Writers Guild of America if he keeps writing his own late-night punchlines. The WGA lambasted Mr. Leno yesterday for delivering his monologue, saying it violated guild rules during the strike. NBC, which airs the Tonight Show, quickly fired back, arguing that "the WGA agreement permits Jay Leno to write his own monologue for `The Tonight Show,'" according to an NBC statement.

In 1998, Leno made a series of appearances in conjunction with World Championship Wrestling as part of the nWo storyline. WCW executive (and nWo-executive in storylines) Eric Bischoff began a version of The Tonight Show on WCW Monday Nitro that he called "Nightcap", which featured much-maligned segments often including jokes at Leno's expense. Leno would respond with segments at the end of his monologue involving a short, old midget version of Hogan, whom he would make fun of. The storyline came to a head on The Tonight Show, where Hollywood Hulk Hogan and Bischoff appeared and attempted to "take over" the show after the last of the "old midget Hogan" segments, kicking Leno and Eubanks offstage prior to a commercial break. Diamond Dallas Page came to Leno's aid following the commercial break, and recruited Leno for a tag team match. The stipulations of the match were that if Leno wins, Bischoff ends Nightcap, but if Leno loses, he hands over The Tonight Show to Bischoff.

Lindsay Lohan, Jay Leno, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno courtesy Steve Granitz/WireImage.com Conan O'Brien might be taking over The Tonight Show in 2009, but that doesn't mean you'll never see Jay Leno's chin on late-night again. In fact, the New York Times reports that Leno, who continues to reign as champion of late-night ratings, already as in the crosshairs of execs at ABC, Fox and Sony Pictures Television, even though they can't officially negotiate with him until November '09. ABC and Fox have both discreetly indicated their interest, while Sony has put the word out that, when legally possible, it will offer him a syndicated gig that would make him the highest-paid host in late-night TV. NBC Universal... has repeatedly stated its intention to develop a new program for Leno.NBC announced The Tonight Show's changing of the guard four years ago to most likely keep other networks from swiping O'Brien away. Regardless of Leno's ratings success, NBC execs insist the hosting change will be made. (The Peacock would have to pay O'Brien a $45 mil penalty otherwise.)...
