Jason Aldean is a contemporary country singer. He released his self-debut album in 2005, and in 2006 won an award for Top new male vocalist. He will release his sophomore album in 2007.
Jason Boland & Aaron Watson If Miranda Lambert is the current poster child for the bad girl of country music, then Jason Aldean is her male counterpart. An image seemingly played up on the cover of his sophomore album that finds Aldean peering out from underneath his low-brimmed hat and sporting a tight-fitting, black leather jacket with a popped collar.

While he was in the process of recording his self-titled debut album a few years ago, Jason Aldean wanted to include the song “Johnny Cash” on the project. But the song’s publishing company pulled it and gave it to another artist. So Aldean recorded another song, “Hicktown,” which became his first Top 10 single.

Jason Aldean, 29, has turned a style he calls "aggressive country" into a gold album and a pair of hit singles. A thumping kick drum and growling guitar riff propelled Hicktown into the country top 10 last fall. Aldean's current single, Why, turned out to be an even bigger radio favorite, reaching No. 1 on Billboard's country chart.

Aldean and Pickler are first-time CMA Awards nominees in 2007. Both were nominated for the coveted Horizon Award. Included in the category are Rodney Atkins, Taylor Swift and Little Big Town. Aldean's self-titled debut album was certified Platinum, and his sophomore release Relentless debuted at No. 1 on the Country sales chart in June. Pickler, an "American Idol" sweetheart, released her debut album, Small Town Girl, in October and by January, the project was certified Gold.

It's no nervousness and all nerve on Aldean's new album Relentless. You can feel the attitude he brings to his live shows in its opening lines. The lead song and lead single, "Johnny Cash" is about freedom and abandon, a fantasy about blowing off the grind and the naysayers and hitting life's highway with the top down and "Folsom Prison Blues" or "Big River" pumping on the stereo.
