Japan: Wars
built 649 days ago
Lately war broke out between Japan and the Antartic alliance. Jampan claimed to have a scientific right to kill 1000 whales in Antartatican waters so they may use their bodies to scientically test the taste in Sushi bars. The Grand Emporor Penquin wasn't too keen on killing of the entire ecosystem, as their were only 999 whales left, so he sent a polite letter to the Mikado telling him to Piss off. The Japanese responded by nuking an entire Penquin colony and letting PETA loose in Antartica, resulting in the extinction of all natice albatrosss, Hobbits and Velociraptors. The Penquins have responded by invading Japan, which has allied itslef with Iceland and Britain. The British scoffed, saying "We're like, bloody invinceble, we took only Napoleon and Hitler so we ain't scaed of bloody Pingu.
Yokohama While there exist eight commonly defined regions of Japan, administratively Japan consists of forty-seven prefectures, each overseen by an elected governor, legislature and administrative bureaucracy. The former city of Tokyo is further divided into twenty-three special wards, each with the same powers as cities.
The Minamoto family defeated their rivals, the Taira, and became masters of Japan. Their great leader, Yoritomo, took the title of shogun, established his capital at Kamakura, and set up a military dictatorship. For the next 700 years Japan was ruled by warriors. The old civil administration was not abolished, but gradually decayed, and the imperial court at Kyoto fell into obscurity. The Minamoto soon gave way to the Hojo, who managed the Kamakura administration as regents for puppet shoguns, much as the Fujiwara had controlled the imperial court.
