Janet Fraser Janet Munro was born on 31 January 1883 in Glasgow, Scotland, to Mary McLean, a housekeeper, and William Munro, an iron foundry warehouseman. Her parents married four years later. Janet sometimes used her maternal grandmother's surname, Henderson, as a middle name. She was educated in Glasgow and became a teacher of orphaned or abandoned children. Janet Munro, actress Janet Munro was born in Blackpool in September 1934, the daughter of comedian Alex Munro. She began her acting career in 1951 at Preston Repertory Theatre with the Reggie Salberg Players, before moving on to Oldham Rep at the Oldham Coliseum in 1953. Janet lived much of the time at 45 The Boulevard in Preston.
Old drunkard Darby O'Gill (Albert Sharpe of Portrait of Jennie) is keeping some news from his daughter Katie (Janet Munro): in two weeks he's being ousted as groundskeeper and young Michael McBride (Sean Connery) will be taking over. Instead of telling her, he's doing his best to swindle a pot of gold from his leprechaun pal King Brian (Jimmy O'Shea). Their battle of wits has Darby in trouble with the local Priest, while most of his peers believe he's going senile. Only Darby knows that he's playing games that may win him a pot of gold, or a nightmarish coach ride to the land of the Dead.
