Jamiroquai: Funk Odyssey

The biography for Jamiroquai is a little out of date. For example Jamiroquai has sold over 20 million ablum and have spent 141 weeks in the British charts (probably more now). They are an acid-jazz band, though their style has changed into funky synth-pop, still combining the mellow jazz tones. They use a variety of intruments including guitars, bass, keyboards/pianos, synthesisers, trumpets/brass and percussion. They have lyrics that are anti-war and very much to save the environment.

Jamiroquai Young, cocky and full of funk, Jamiroquai was a spanner in the works for the theoreticians. If Bootsy Collins and Gil Scott Heron are giving you the thumbs up, contemporary hip hop names from Gang Starr's Guru to Busta Rhymes to Missy Elliot want to work with you or sample you, you must be doing a lot right. Couple that with the fact that, through the 90's, even the most dedicated media cynics were forced to accept that Jamiroquai has consistently been an amazing live band.

On the 6th January 2002, the largest Funktion One touring system assembled to date was deployed on the Jamiroquai concert in the super-large 43,000 seat Tokyo Dome indoor arena. Tony and Ann Andrews together with John Newsham were in Japan alongside Masaaki Azuma of Funktion One Japan and Try Audio.
