Historical pot still at the Jameson distillery in Cork Jameson is a blended Irish whiskey, first produced in 1780. Originally one of the main four Dublin Whiskeys, Jameson is now distilled in Cork, although vatting still takes place in Dublin. With annual sales of over 22 million bottles, Jameson is the best selling Irish whiskey in the world.[1]

The cork distillers Company joined forces with their rivals John Jameson and John Powers to form the Irish Distillers Group in 1966. The Midleton distillery built by the Irish Distillers is producing now most of the Irish Whiskey sold in Ireland.

Jameson, (John) Irish whiskey - The Jameson Whiskey logo. Jameson, in Bow Street, near Smithfield fruit market and the river Liffey, used to look across at its neighbour and great Dublin rival, the John Power distillery. Then, for a time, production of Jameson shifted to Power's premises before the structuring of Irish Distillers was completed.
