James Kerwin (born October 13, 1973 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American film and theatre director. He has received acclaim for his Shakespearean adaptations of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Cardenio and Venus and Adonis starring Megan Henning and Travis Schuldt. In 2003 he collaborated with Amber Benson to stage the play Albert Hall in Los Angeles, California. In the early 2000s he was a frequent guest director for Noah Wyle's Blank Theatre Company and for Schuldt's Lone Star Ensemble.
There is a change at the top as Rod Miller and James Kerwin were named co-head coaches for next season, replacing Robert Fuller. Dustin Talacko was ... promoted to general manager and director of operations.
James Kerwin will begin his third season with the Beef in 2008. He spent the last two seasons as Defensive Coordinator. Kerwin is a native of Council Bluffs, Iowa. He played football at and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Kerwin is no stranger to indoor football as he has coached with the Evansville BlueCats, the Green Bay Blizzard, the Tennessee Thundercats, the Lincoln Lightning and in the American Professional Football League. In addition to coaching in the indoor game, Kerwin has volunteered at Omaha’s Millard North High School and Council Bluffs’ Lewis Central High School (his alma mater).
David Ives’ short plays, ably directed by Daniel Henning, James Kerwin and Darin Anthony, take a light-hearted look at contemporary cultural icons and quirky urban folkways. Ives is more clever than profound, and his satire is too good-humored to cut deep, but the plays are fun to watch. In "The Mystery at Twicknam Vicarage," a spoof of English country-house whodunits, a dimwitted stud (Travis Schuldt) is murdered for (among other things) having carnal knowledge of a sofa. "Mere Mortals" concerns a construction worker (Bill Dempsey) who claims to be the long-lost Lindbergh baby, and "Captive Audience" focuses on a couple (Gregory Thirloway and Lee D’Angelo) whose lives are taken over by their TV set. "Seven Menus" is a sexual roundelay about unstable relationships and constantly changing partners. In "Speed the Play," MC Julie Cohen conducts a hilariously loony trip through the plays, obsessions and macho mannerisms of David Mamet, and in "Degas, C’est Moi," a man (Richard Kline) imagines he’s French painter Edgar Degas.
