James Bond: Sean Connery
built 202 days ago
Before James Bond, Sean Connery was a little-known actor at the start of his career. He had some starring roles but suffered from continual miscasting. By the time he finally left the EON produced Bond series after Diamonds Are Forever (1971), he was both a household name and an actor of international repute. Born in Edinburgh, the son of a truck driver, Connery worked at a variety of odd jobs – from milkman to bricklayer – before he landed a part in the chorus of the British stage production of South Pacific, which began his career in showbusiness.

The original James Bond - and arguably the best - was Sean Connery, who accepted a license to kill from 1962 to 1971, plus a final "unofficial" Bond film in 1983. His Bond movies included "Dr. No" (1962), "From Russia with Love" (1963), "Goldfinger" (1964), "Thunderball" (1965), "You Only Live Twice" (1967), "Diamonds are Forever" (1971) and the 1983 version "Never Say Never Again."

The first mission of the James Bond gang was for Rock Hudson who personally selected Sean Connery for the job. Hudson said he was looking for 'a very bad boy' to do 'some things to some people having this party out in the Hollywood Hills', and provided Connery with the attire he'd need to 'blend in with the party'. Connery assumed he was being hired to rough up some partying kids, but was shocked to find out Hudson had hired him for a gay bondage sex party. This was the first time Connery's homophobic side came out, and he shot everyone at the party.
James Bond The original character of James Bond was English. Fleming only created a Scottish backstory after being impressed with Connery's portrayal of the role. Due to many of his quintisential characteristics, he is more synonymopus with England than the other parts of the British Isles, thereby making him an English Icon.
