built 226 days ago
Jacques Chirac is no stranger to controversy. In his first term he defied a worldwide moratorium to resume nuclear testing. At home, allegations of improper deals and personal improprieties triggered a string of scandals. But he won re-election and emerged as the leading voice of opposition to the war in Iraq. From his first forays into politics to his struggles to balance France's traditional interests with the nation's integration into the European Union, BIOGRAPHY® follows the life and career of this important statesman through archival footage and interviews with those who have worked with him.
