Jacques Chirac is a French politician and current Pesident (1995-2007). Before taking office he held senior positions, such as Minister of Agriculture, Prime Minister, and Mayor of Paris. His internal policies have included lower tax rates, the removal of price controls, strong punishment for crime and terrorism; and business privatization. He is currently the most senior member of G8.

Jacques Chirac was born on 29 November 1932 in the 5th arrondissement of Paris. Son of Franois Chirac, a company director, and Marie-Louise, née Valette. He was married on 16 March 1956 to Mlle Bernadette Chodron de Courcel and has two children: Laurence and Claude. Chirac received his education at the Lycée Carnot and Lycée Louis-le-Grand, Paris.
