Jackson Stephens: Jack Stephens
built 614 days ago
Stephens ... has a close personal relationship with Rose senior partner William H. Kennedy 3d, as well as with Bill and Hillary Clinton. No one else raised more money for Clinton's presidential bid, one which saw his campaign manager James Carville married to the Bush campaign manager, Mary Matallan.
Stephens raised $100,000 in contributions for Clinton during his 1992 campaign. He ... supplied a $3.5 million line of credit through Stephen's Worthen Bank, at a time when Clinton's campaign was starved for cash, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Though sold out his proprietary interest in WTI in 1990, Stephens arranged the $128 million financing for the incinerator through the Union Bank of Switzerland the sane year. The bank made the loan in anticipation that Ohio would issue tax-free municipal bond: as bridge financing to pay back the money until the incinerator began operating.

In an attempt to understand why the supposedly conservative Club for Growth is determined to destroy the campaign of Mike Huckabee, it is helpful to understand that Jackson Stephens, Jr. (Steve) gets what he wants. So, when Mike Huckabee opposed him in Arkansas, he did what very few had dared to do. In 2002, Huckabee decided to oppose a voter initiative to eliminate the state sales tax on groceries and medicine, an effort that Stephens was helping to fund. Tensions got so bad between the two that Stephens told a local newspaper Huckabee had become a "tax and spender."

Part of the untold story involves a financier named Jackson Stephens, who got into the toxic-incinerator business in 1980 when he founded WTI - and went on to arrange financing for the East Liverpool project. Though he sold his share of the company 10 years later, his reputation is riding on the WTI facility.

Looking for the parents of Sanford M. Jackson b. 1855 in Maryland migrated west eventually to Iola, KS where he died in 1934. Have a suspicion that parents might be William A. and Mary L. Jackson of Belmont Co., OH, but need confirmation.
