Stewart launched her set solo with crunching synth tones, adding sampled crickets that humorously drowned out the indigenous ones in the garden concert space behind the historic concrete-and-wood bunker known as the Schindler House (after Rudolf, its ‘20s architect). More recorded critters crept into the soundscape: dogs, coyotes, birds, all battling the goofy sci-fi sounds of Stewart’s vintage synths. After a while, the chemistry-proffish Recchion and the dreadlocked Meate joined the party, and before long the group had dragged out a gong, bells, a trumpet and turntables to complement assorted freak noises and disembodied voices. The ad hoc effort exhibited more quantity than quality, but this is America, where mass counts for something. In media res, the sun went down, and the audience was hard pressed to weigh buzzings of performance against those of mosquitoes.

Jackie received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from UBC in 2002 and a Master of Science degree in wood science in April of 2005. Her graduate research focused on the lignin chemistry and pulping characteristics of transgenic and natural poplar trees. Before joining Skylight and the Department of Chemistry, Jackie taught interdisciplinary science workshops to first year students in the Coordinated Science Program, and she co-developed and coordinated the Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Program (MURP).

In the early days of mp3.com, a number of cyber-divas emerged onto the scene and one such emergence was that of Jackie Stewart. Her light and poppy tunes turned a lot of heads, garnered a great number of listens and a lot of BB attention. Then as life does, it caught up with Ms. Stewart as she became busier and busier in the "real" world.

Stewart, who turned 64 on June 11, flashed onto the Formula One scene in 1965. Stewart, a native of Dumbarton, Scotland, drove in 99 races, won 27 (that was a record when he retired after the 1973 season) and world championships in 1969, 1971 and ’73. He ... placed in the top five 54 times.
