Tim Holt The son of actor Jack Holt and brother of actors David and Jennifer Holt, Tim Holt, born Charles John Holt III, debuted onscreen at age ten (playing his father's character as a child) in The Vanishing Pioneer (1928). He went on to play earnest teenagers in the mid-to-late '30s, moving into roles as boyish Western heroes in many B-movies; from 1941-43 and 1948-52 he was a top ten box office star, and at one point was very popular among teenage girls.
Jack Holt Born Charles Holt in Los Angeles in February 1919 (some sources indicate 1918), western star Tim Holt was the son of silent screen actor Jack Holt. Spending a lot of time on movie sets as a child, it was natural for Tim Holt to become a movie star. However, following his parents' separation in the early 1930s, Holt was sent to a military boarding school. Upon graduation, Holt returned to Hollywood and had little trouble entering films. He had been in one of his father's films, The Vanishing Pioneer (1928), as a child. But at the age of 18, he was cast in a plum role in the popular drama Stella Dallas (1937; with Barbara Stanwyck and Anne Shirley).
Holt followed the movie people to Hollywood and began getting bits and stunt jobs in the many Westerns and serials being made there. He impressed a number of co-workers at Universal Pictures, among them Francis Ford and his brother John Ford, and Grace Cunard. Holt soon became a frequent supporting player in their films, and then a star in serials.
After five minor roles, in 1938, at the age of nineteen, Holt had a major role under star Harry Carey in The Law West of Tombstone. It would be the first of the many Western film s he would make during the 1940s. At the same time, his sister, Jennifer Holt , would ... become a leading star in the Western film genre.
In Antarctica, Holt is using airborne gravity and magnetics in conjunction with subglacial topography from radar sounding to delineate crustal boundaries and characterize active tectonics in the Amundsen Sea Embayment of West Antarctica. The glaciers of this basin appear to be losing more mass as a result of climate change than any others in Antarctica. The basin is ... characterized by the highest estimated geothermal flux in Antarctica, so the ice dynamical response to the geological boundary conditions of this region may dictate West Antarctica's contribution to global sea level change.

Holt made her final film in 1949 then in 1950 co-hosted a television show called "Panhandle Pete and Jennifer" which ran for one season. During the remainder of the 1950s she made occasional guest appearances on television western series such as " The Gabby Hayes Show " and "Tales of Wells Fargo". Although the popularity of western films had faded by the mid 1950s, during the 1970s western film festival s became popular with fans of the genre and she occasionally participated as a guest star.
