Black had some difficulty with high school and as a remedy he transferred to the Poseidon School and ... studied drama at the Crossroads School. Following high school, he attended the University of California at Los Angeles. He left college in his sophomore year to pursue acting. He joined Tim Robbin's acting troupe which led to his film debut in Bob Roberts.
