The 4.66 acre ITT-Thompson Industries Site is located in the northeastern section of the City of Madison, Madison County, Florida. The Site consists of a former manufacturing plant, an office trailer, a small storage shed, and a parking area. Residential neighborhoods surround the site and several ponds are near the site, including an adjacent unnamed natural pond and nearby man-made drainage ponds. ITT Thompson Industries operated an automobile stamping business at this site from 1970 to 1991, manufacturing wheel ornamentation for cars, including wheel covers and wire wheel products. Trichloroethylene (TCE) was used at the facility from 1970 to 1974. In 1994 and 1995, TCE contamination was detected in numerous private wells above the maximum contaminant level (MCL) in the Yellow Pines subdivision, 0.6 miles east of the Site. In 1995 a health advisory was issued, and the City of Madison and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) extended municipal water lines to provide residents an alternate drinking water supply.

This contract modification provides for the option exercise and incremental funding of the FY08 Contract Line Item Numbers (CLINs) for the Space Lift Range System Contract (SLRSC). This action provides for the continued support for the program management, interface management, systems engineering and integration, depot maintenance transition, product acquisitions and modifications, and instrument modernization for operational systems and infrastructure including instrumentation, network, control and display. At this time $5,014,002.27has been obligated. SMC SLG/PK, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. is the contracting activity (F04701-01-C-0001, P00450).
