Apple has a smash hit on its hands with the new iPod mini digital music player. The little cousin of the full-size iPod is virtually sold out after less than two weeks in stores, with nearly 100,000 snapped up.

By introducing the mini iPod, Apple targeted those new to digital music. Many users with small music collections probably were not prepared to slap down $300 on an MP3 player much bigger than their needs warranted.

Slashdot had posted a "possible" link to the HD being used for the mini-iPod and the size matches up. However, the specs of the hard drive basically preclude using it for any real type of physical activity (aka workout) while listening to music.
