Ionic Breeze: Ionic Breeze Quadra

The Ionic Breeze Quadra is the new air purifier that Sharper Image has been pushing all over the place. It’s pretty cool in that it creates a “breeze” with no moving parts, just some charged wires and collection plates. The unit stands about two to three feet tall and can easily sit in the corner of a room. Cleaning the collection plates is easy to do, but must be done frequently (especially if you like to leave your windows open). While the device is cool in concept, the flashy TV ads don’t tell you about some of the side effects that are on par with some prescription drugs.

The Ionic Breeze Quadra is a tall-standing unit, while the Surround Air XJ-2100UV ionizer is more of a flat, table-top unit. This allows the Surround Air ionizers to be placed on bookshelves, entertainment centers, and other higher locations. Due to its shape, the Ionic Breeze will need to be placed either on the floor, or perhaps on a coffee table. Negative ion and ozone air purifiers are more effective if they can be placed at a higher elevation, since negative ions and ozone tend to work gradually downward. It is more advantageous to have a unit that fits onto higher surfaces in your home, such as the Surround Air purifier.
