"The National Gallery for America’s Young Inventors is a program established for the purpose of enshrining great inventions produced by America’s youth. The National Gallery complements the efforts of the National Inventors Hall of Fame by inducting six young people in grades K- 12 annually. In this way, the National Gallery is taking the great ideas of American youth and preserving them forever.

Regional innovators recognized for inventions CLEVELAND, Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- NorTech, Northeast Ohio's leading technology-based economic development organization, announced winners of the 2006 Innovation Awards yesterday during a private ceremony at the National Inventors Hall of Fame in Akron, Ohio. NorTech hosts the annual Innovation Awards to honor individuals, companies and organizations producing innovative products and processes in Northeast Ohio. This year's winners were selected based on the theme "breakthrough innovation" -- technologies that have the potential to dramatically impact a specific industry or market sector. A distinguished panel of judges chose six companies/organizations in Northeast Ohio with inventions in a variety of technical fields including: nanotechnology, polymers, advanced materials, advanced energy storage, liquid crystal displays, information technology and advanced agriculture (hydroponics). "It's important that we recognize our region's innovators and celebrate their inventions," said Dorothy Baunach, President and CEO of NorTech. Baunach continued, "Afterall, the inventions we celebrate today will fuel the region's 21st century economy and potentially have a dramatic impact on the lives of people in and outside of Northeast Ohio."

This monumental discovery will be formally recognized on May 5, when Dr. Franz is inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame® in Akron, Ohio. He joins other leaders of the agricultural industry, including Eli Whitney, John Deere, and George Washington Carver, who were previously inducted to the Hall of Fame, which honors the women and men responsible for the great technological advances that make human, social and economic progress possible.
